From 15 July, Eldon Square will proudly welcome one of the spectacular super-sized Peter Rabbit™ sculptures as part of Peter Rabbit™: Tales on the Tyne, a free public art trail taking place across Newcastle and North Tyneside.
Presented by St Oswald’s Hospice in partnership with Wild in Art, the trail will feature beautifully designed Peter Rabbit sculptures displayed at locations throughout the region, encouraging visitors to explore, discover and celebrate this much-loved character while supporting an important local cause.
Be sure to visit Eldon Square to see our larger-than-life Peter Rabbit and join in the adventure as the trail brings art, creativity and family fun to the heart of the city this summer.
From 15th July, Eldon Square will proudly host one of the super‑sized Peter Rabbit sculptures arriving in Newcastle and North Tyneside as part of Peter Rabbit™: Tales on the Tyne, a free, city‑wide art trail presented by St Oswald’s Hospice and Wild in Art.
Over 40 large sculptures will hop into iconic locations across the region, each one uniquely designed by artists from the North East and beyond. Eldon Square’s sculpture will be one of the trail’s must-see stops, bringing colour, creativity and a little mischief right into the heart of the centre.

HOP ART: Where Peter Rabbit Meets Pop Art
“As an artist, I enjoy exploring different artistic styles and mediums, but Pop Art has always held a particular fascination for me. Its bold visual language, cultural influence, and ability to transform everyday subjects into iconic imagery inspired me to create a design that pays tribute to the movement while adding a playful Peter Rabbit twist.
HOP ART plays on the name and spirit of Pop Art, reimagining the world of Peter Rabbit through the movement’s signature use of bold colour, striking patterns, layered text, and graphic imagery. Beyond the visual references and nods to both art style and subject, there is a shared attitude at the heart of the piece. Pop Art challenged convention, blurred boundaries, and injected humour into the art world. Peter Rabbit spent his time ignoring rules, hopping fences and causing just enough trouble to keep things interesting.
