The Poppy Appeal
Join us at our family fundraising ‘make a wooden poppy windmill’ event in support of the Royal British Legion on Saturday 5 November, 11am – 4pm, upper Grey’s Quarter.
Show off your creative skills and display your beautifully crafted poppy in your garden or house, demonstrating your mark of respect and remembrance to all that have served, all for a donation to the Royal British Legion via our QR code. No cash donations are accepted.
The poppy represents all those who lost their lives on active service, from the beginning of the First World War right up to the present day. The poppy has been a symbol of remembrance and hope for over 100 years.
You can also purchase a poppy from our Customer Service desks within St Andrew’s Way or outside Fenwick for a small, but vital donation to the Royal British Legion.
The Royal British Legion
The money raised during the Poppy Appeal event and via donations from purchasing a poppy provides invaluable support to serving and ex-serving personnel and the whole of the armed forces community, including dependants and carers. This support can include expert rehabilitation, financial or providing care homes that allow older veterans to live safely.
The Royal British Legion currently supports many people who are isolated from family, feeling lonely, facing homelessness, struggling to feed their children or in financial crisis. Many of them never imagined they would have to ask for charity support.
After all that crafting, why not enjoy a delicious meal at one of our child-friendly restaurants? Find out more here.
