The North East has one of the highest proportions of STEM students in the county, with over 67,000 people studying science, technology, engineering and maths and the region has the highest proportion of computer science students in England. Thanks to the world-class education facilities, the region has access to some of the best future tech talent in the sector, but the challenge for businesses is keeping them here.

Cormac Hamilton, General Manager at Eldon Square commented: “We are honoured to take part in this year’s TechNExt festival, making Eldon Square one of the locations to bring together the local community of students, graduates, career changers and those new to the tech sector. We hope this community designed event will help showcase the brilliant talent and exciting tech opportunities that will shape our future in the North East.”

Jill McKinney, director at Dynamo and skills lead at Sunderland Software City said: “We are excited to have the opportunity to bring TechNExt to the Newcastle city centre at Eldon Square where we can help to inspire, motivate and inform the next generation of tech and digital talent. There will be a range of North East employers from the sector to help highlight the different tech careers and opportunities within tech. We look forward to seeing tech enthusiasts of all kinds take part throughout the TechNExt festival.”
