Half Term Fun at Fenwick

Kielder Observatory Workshop
Mini astronauts are invited to join Fenwick this February half-term for an out-of-this-world Space Workshop with astronomers from Kielder Observatory that will take them to infinity and beyond.
This year promises to be exceptional for observing the northern lights, also known as the aurora borealis. In this captivating and educational workshop, little ones can marvel at the night sky as they create artworks depicting displays of the aurora as it could appear here in the Northeast.
Not only this, budding space rangers will have the chance to get hands-on with the extraordinary Kielder meteorite collection, showcasing specimens from the asteroid belt, as well as rare samples from the Moon and Mars. At the end of the session, they’ll be solar system professionals!
Located at Fenwick Newcastle, on the Third Floor Reading Room, sessions are available to book on Thursday 22 February: 11am-12pm, 1pm-2pm and 3pm-4pm.
*Tickets cost £5 per child (ages 7+) with 18 spaces per session. *Every child must be accompanied by an adult.

Children’s Bakery Classes & Adults Sparkling Cream Tea
Get your little chefs at the ready, because a culinary adventure awaits. If you are looking for a way to treat your little ones during the holidays, then look no further than a day out at one of Fenwick’s Children’s bakery classes.
Mini chefs will get to make and decorate their own cupcakes which can be taken and enjoyed from home. But that’s not all – after all that baking, it’ll be time to refuel with a special mini tea.
While they are busy whisking, grown-ups can relax over a delicious sparkling cream tea.
Dates and times are as follows:
Mason and Rye Newcastle
From 3:30pm on the following dates:
- Wednesday the 21st February
- Thursday the 22nd February
- Friday the 23rd February
Ticket includes:
- Adults – Glass of Sparkling wine, two mini homemade fruit scones with clotted cream and jam, a cup of tea or coffee.
- Children all sites 3 Cupcakes (made by them) along with the 3 decorated by them. A mini Tea – ham or cheese finger sandwich, fresh fruit pot and glass of juice.
Please note, every guest must purchase a ticket. Both adult and children’s tickets are £15.00 each.
There will be 8 children’s tickets and 16 adult tickets available per session. There is no option to take children to the event without taking the tea. Alternatives will be available by request and all dietary requirements catered for* please let the restaurant know in advance.
