Elf School

Elf School at Eldon Square is the perfect place to immerse your children in the magic of Christmas and become an elf for the day.

Join us on Saturday 25 & Sunday 26 November and Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 December for a fun-filled festive event at upper-level Grey’s Quarter (opposite Chatime)

Children will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the whimsical world of Santa’s little helpers and become full-fledged elf.

Eldon Square’s Elf School offers a one-of-a-kind experience for children of all ages. During a delightful 30-minute session, your little ones can transform into Santa’s cheerful little helpers. This enjoyable activity will transport them to a world of creativity, imagination, and, most importantly, Christmas spirit!

Please note that the 11 am session of each day will be a quieter experience for children; no music or singing will occur at this session.

Only children attending the event are required to have a valid ticket.

Transform into an Elf

Transform your little ones into an elf as they step into Elf School. Greeted by our head elf, Candy Cane, you will receive your very own elf hat and rosy cheeks face paint as you embark on your journey to graduating from Elf School.

Sing-along and Storytime

Delving into the world of Santa and all things Christmas, you will hear a Christmas story to remember. Plus, the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear in our Christmas sing-along.

Present Stacking game

Full of fun, laughter and games, you will work with your fellow elves to stack the tallest tower of presents ever!

Reindeer Food

It’s time to make your reindeer food for Christmas Eve; grab a bag and fill it with our special magic reindeer food to leave out for Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen and Rudolph.

Graduating

All children will receive a certificate, a chocolate lolly, and a colouring-in sheet to take home.

The Children’s Foundation

During the event, donations will be welcomed to The Children’s Foundation. The charity was established in 1990 in response to the country’s worst children’s health levels to improve the health and well-being of children and young people in the Northeast.

Today, The Children’s Foundation continue to improve the health and well-being of the most vulnerable and marginalised children and young people from birth to 18 in the Northeast by Making Serious Stuff Fun!

All The Children’s Foundation’s work is based within the North East of England, and their main focus remains set on Early Years, children’s Mental Health and Children’s Physical Health and are proud of our delivering in each of these child health themes.

This fun-filled festive event will take place on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 November, and Saturday 9, and Sunday 10 December.  Eldon Square’s Christmas Elf School is a unique experience for children of all ages. In a delightful half-hour session, your little ones will have the chance to undergo a magical transformation into Santa’s cheerful little helpers. Mission Christmas Cash for Kids 2023

Once again, we are celebrating the true spirit of Christmas as Cash for Kids, Mission Christmas is back. This year more than ever, the charity needs your help to ensure children wake up on Christmas morning with a gift.

Cash for Kids

Cash for Kids is a grant-giving charity helping children that need it most across the UK.

Their mission is to improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in our communities who are affected by poverty, illness, neglect, or additional needs. The charity believes that all children should express their individuality, achieve their potential and live life to the full.

Mission Christmas

One in four children living in the UK is classed as living in poverty, and for families in need, the prospect of purchasing Christmas presents can be particularly daunting or simply unachievable. The Mission Christmas campaign aims to provide a disadvantaged local child with a present to open on Christmas morning.

Make a Donation

Visitors to the centre are encouraged to buy an extra present while doing their Christmas shopping, no matter how big or small. This can then be dropped off at our Mission Christmas donation box, located next to the Customer Service Desk outside of Fenwick, from Monday 13 November to Tuesday 19 December 2023.

Donated gifts should be suitable for children and young people aged 0 to 18 years and need to be new and unwrapped so that they can be allocated to a child of the appropriate age.

The most wonderful time of the year is upon us which means it’s time for some festive feasts with our restaurants’ brand new and exclusive festive menus at Eldon Square.

Chaophraya

Chaophraya’s festive specials are finally here! Relish in a range of Thai-inspired dishes from Chaophraya’s brand new festive set menus that start from £37.00 per person. Indulge in a delicious Pad Thai, Goong Prik Klua or Chilli Basil Duck and more this Christmas. Chaophrya is open all day throughout the festive period, excluding Christmas Day.

Fancy something different? Why not treat yourself to their brand new afternoon tea for £35 per person which is available Sunday – Wednesday, 12 pm – 4 pm for a special get-together with friends.

ASK Italian

Ask Italian is making this Christmas extra special with their Christmas set menu starting from £27,50 for 3 courses, which launches on 21 November. Immerse yourself in the season’s most-loved movies, elevated with festive Fenwick touches for an unforgettable evening. Adults can also choose between a complimentary mulled wine and a delicious spiced apple juice, while little ones can sip on hot chocolate or a refreshing juice. And yes, there’s plenty of popcorn to nibble on, too.

The Christmas Cinema takes place on the 5th Floor, which you’ll be able to access via our Express Lift on the 3rd Floor. Screenings will be held every Saturday and Sunday from 11 November; on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 10 December; and then daily from 14 December.

Tickets are £17.50 per person and will be available to purchase from 12 October.

Gingerbread Making Workshop

Gingerbread Making Workshops

30 November – 21 December

Fenwick gingerbread-making workshop is perfect to get your little one (and yourself) into a festive mood.

Whether they’re batch-making cookies to gift, decorate the tree or devour straight away (we won’t tell) you’re in for a creative baking experience.

  • Mini bakers will have gingerbread, icing tubes, sprinkles and other tasty toppers at hand so they can add their personal touch.
  • While they are busy in the kitchen, you can relax with a festive cream tea and a glass of prosecco.
  • Once the bake is in the oven, little ones can enjoy a glass of juice alongside small bites, including ham or cheese sandwiches, crudités and fruit pots.*

This festive season, flex your mixologist muscles at the Fenwick x Sapling Christmas Cocktail Making Masterclasses. Prepare to tap your feet, snap your fingers, and sway back and forth as Niall Southall takes the stage performing Elvis’s classic hits. From his early days of rock ‘n’ roll to the unforgettable tunes from his iconic movies, the electric ’68 comeback special, and the legendary Vegas shows of the ’70s, this performance promises an immersive journey through the pop star’s legendary career.

The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll will be in the building on Friday 8 December & Saturday 23 December, so keep your calendars free for an unforgettable night at Arthur’s Music Club. We’re “all-shock-up” just thinking about it! Eldon Square is delighted to launch our Community Quarter in upper Grey’s Quarter (opposite Chatime). The brand new Community Quarter will support local initiatives and positively impact our community in Newcastle.

Eldon Squares Community Quarter serves as a community engagement and information-sharing hub that fosters a sense of togetherness while supporting local initiatives that matter to Eldon Square customers.

The area will provide easy access to services and information for shoppers in Newcastle, creating a vibrant and inclusive space right here in Eldon Square.

The Eldon Square Community Hub will support:

  • Arts and Cultural Organisations
  • Civic & Heritage
  • Employability Organisations
  • Environmental Agencies
  • Local Authorities and other Public Bodies
  • Registered Charities
  • Schools, Colleges and Universities
  • Volunteering Agencies

The Community Quarter is free to hire Monday – Sunday within Eldon Square’s core trading hours, which can be found here.

Fenwick Christmas Window Theme

This year’s theme of the iconic Fenwick’s window is at the forefront of everyone’s mind.

Christmas would not be the same without a visit to the Fenwick window display during your Christmas shopping trip. As momentum builds in anticipation for the much-loved window reveal, we take a trip down memory lane to revisit some of its magical themes to date to try and work out what this year’s theme could be!

Over the years, various magical themes have been presented in Fenwick’s window from Treasure Island,  Alice in Wonderland, A Christmas Carol and even an appearance from Shaun the Sheep. This brings us to this year’s theme. Will it be a Christmas classic or a modern twist on a much-loved fairy tale? Who knows?  We certainly don’t, but that’s all part of the fun, right?

Grand Reveal

The grand reveal of Fenwick’s window will take place on Sunday 5 November. The reveal will only be available to members of the public who have won a ticket by entering the prize draw from Monday 16 October to Sunday 22 October. Enter here.

Fear not. The general public can still view Fenwick’s window display from Monday 6 November and updates will be available across Fenwick’s social media accounts on Sunday evening, including a reveal via Fenwick’s Official YouTube channel here.
