Eldon Square Proudly Announces 2025 Charities of the Year

Eldon Square Charities of the Year

At Eldon Square, community is at the heart of everything we do. That’s why we are thrilled to introduce our three dedicated Charities of the Year for 2025: Changing Lives, Marie Curie, and the Newcastle United Foundation.

Each of these incredible organisations brings hope, support, and positive change to individuals and families across the North East and beyond. Throughout the year, Eldon Square will work together with each charity to raise awareness, host fundraising events, and offer meaningful experiences for our visitors while supporting vital causes in our community.

Changing Lives

For over 50 years, Changing Lives has been supporting people facing some of the most difficult circumstances – from homelessness to addiction recovery, domestic abuse, and long-term unemployment. What began as a small organisation known as Tyneside Cyrenians has grown into a national charity helping over 14,000 people each year take positive steps forward.

Our Support

This Easter, we teamed up with Changing Lives to host our Superhero Event from 21–26 April in the Community Quarter. Families joined in on the fun by meeting their favourite superheroes, taking part in themed crafts, and donating to support Changing Lives’ important mission. We’re excited to continue our partnership throughout 2025 with more engaging events and fundraising initiatives. Click here to find out more or donate.

Alice Fisher, Corporate and Events Fundraising Manager at Changing Lives: “Changing Lives is a charity dedicated to providing support to thousands of people who are experiencing homelessness, addiction, exploitation, unemployment and abuse. We are incredibly excited about this partnership with Eldon Square. Together, we can make a real and lasting impact to the North East community and reach even more people, extending our vital support to individuals and families in crisis and empowering them to rebuild their lives. Together we will make a real difference to people’s lives.”

Marie Curie

Marie Curie Nurses and healthcare professionals provide expert hospice care, whatever the illness, in the comfort of home and hospice. Whether you have months, weeks or days left to live, their services help provide you with clinical care and emotional support, assisting you so you’re able to live the best life you can to the end.

Hayley Revell, Deputy Head of Fundraising for Marie Curie in North England said: “We’re so grateful to be one of the charities Eldon Square is supporting this year and all of us at Marie Curie are very excited to be working with them. Support like this is invaluable and allows us to continue to support people living with a terminal illness and their loved ones in the North East and across the UK. Everybody deserves the right to care at the end of their life, whatever the illness and it’s thanks to the support from organisations like Eldon Square that we can continue to deliver that and campaign for more people to have a better end of life and fund palliative care research.”

Our Support

On April 25th, thirteen of our incredible team members took on a 10-mile charity walk from Wylam to Newcastle, raising an impressive £1,675 – far surpassing our original goal of £500! This follows the success of the Daffodil Appeal, hosted in our Community Quarter, which raised a staggering £4,035.73 thanks to the generosity of our visitors.

We are proud to support Marie Curie’s fantastic work throughout 2025 and beyond, as we continue to provide space, visibility, and fundraising for their essential care. Click here to find out more or donate.

Newcastle United Foundation

The Newcastle United Foundation transforms lives by harnessing the unifying power of football to improve health, education, and employment prospects across the region. From children and young people to adults and families, their life-changing work touches thousands every year.

Our Support

On 15 May, the Eldon Square Management team are embarking on a thrilling zip-line challenge at St James’ Park to raise funds for the Newcastle United Foundation. Last year, our Christmas Elf Fun Run saw visitors racing through the centre in festive gear, with every £3 ticket going directly to support the Newcastle United Foundation’s mission.

We look forward to launching more exciting events with the charity this year, bringing families and football fans together to make a real difference! Click here to find out more or donate.

Eldon Square is proud to support three incredible charities – Changing Lives, Marie Curie, and the Newcastle United Foundation – as we work together to uplift our community and drive meaningful change.

Stay tuned for updates on upcoming events, fundraising opportunities, and how you can get involved. Let’s make 2025 a year of community and collective impact!
