The new Freight Island venue will transform the former Debenhams department store into a vibrant hub of activity, offering a dynamic mix of experiences from family-friendly events and global street food by day to high-energy DJ sets and live performances by night.

One of Freight Island’s standout elements will be its extensive food and drink offering. The venue will host a carefully curated selection of eateries and traders, including a service-led restaurant overseen by an exec chef, global street food stalls, and a food hall with communal seating beneath a retractable roof.

Freight Island Newcastle will take inspiration from some of the world’s leading social and entertainment spaces, bringing a mix of cultural and immersive experiences to the city from kids’ raves and Michelin-star-level dining to live performances and late-night parties.

Oseyo

Oseyo, the largest Asian supermarket retailer in the UK, is set to open a new store inside Eldon Square!

Visitors can expect the latest concepts and viral products from across the Oseyo brand, alongside their variety of Korean and Asian foods, toys, stationery, houseware and electronics. The space will feature a range of immersive, trend-driven experiences, including Oseyo Snaps – Korean-style photobooths , a large wall of claw machines and a dedicated Korean beauty section!

Additional highlights will include a highly popular Korean ice cup drinks zone, a bespoke ‘Ramyun Library’ showcasing an extensive selection of ramyun from across Asia, and dedicated tasting areas where customers can sample products such as dumplings and ramen free of charge. We can’t wait!

Dave’s Hot Chicken, the fast-growing US restaurant brand, will open a new location at the centre – marking the brand’s first restaurant in the North East.

Dave’s Hot Chicken is a fast-casual restaurant known for its Nashville-style hot chicken. The restaurant focuses on a simple menu built around crispy chicken tenders and sliders that can be customised with several spice levels, ranging from mild to extremely hot. Alongside its signature chicken, the store offers sides such as crinkle-cut fries, mac and cheese, and kale slaw, as well as drinks and milkshakes, creating a quick and flavourful dining experience for fans of spicy comfort food.
