Sitting high above Eldon Square, this 60,000 sq ft rooftop neighbourhood is already a new landmark for places to eat, drink and experience music from day to night.

The weekly rhythm will be in full flow:

Playing Out Thursdays spotlights emerging North East artists and rising local talent.
Rhythm Tonic Fridays shift the pace with DJ takeovers curated by Paul Stewart.
Drink, Dance, Disco Saturdays bring headline DJs and late‑night energy to the rooftop.
Sundaze Sunday’s wind things down with a soulful, female‑led soundtrack.

The World Cup Social is transforming the venue from 12 June to 19 July into one of the city’s standout places to watch the tournament. With matches across 10 HD screens, including under the vast retractable roof of The Plant Room, plus live music, it’s more than a fan zone. Guests can choose free general admission or book tables and packages, with group‑friendly spaces and a dedicated family area.

Food and drink sit at the heart of the experience, with 12 independent kitchens and three bars serving everything from Asian fusion and Greek live‑fire cooking to Caribbean plates, pies, desserts and Newcastle favourites like I Scream for Pizza, Meat:Stack, Miso and FAB Bakery. Craft beer from Two by Two, cocktails and a sustainability‑led wine list complete the all‑day offer.

Getting here is easy! Freight Island sits just moments from Eldon Square with easy access from New Gate Street, making it a natural new meeting point in the city.
