Age UK Festive Gift Wrapping

Eldon Square is offering festive shoppers a gift-wrapping service this Christmas for perfectly wrapped presents (even the impossibly shaped ones) with proceeds going to Age UK Gateshead & Age UK Northumberland.

From Tuesday 13 to Friday 23 December, the gift wrapping stand will be located outside the Fenwick Customer Service Desk. Busy gift seekers can visit the wrapping stand and have their presents beautifully wrapped by volunteers in return for a donation to Age UK Gateshead and Age UK Northumberland.

Customers can choose from a selection of wrapping paper, ribbons and bows, all donated by local businesses.

Opening Hours

Eldon Square’s gift wrap service will be open during the following times:

Mon to Sat: 11am – 5pm
Sunday: 11:30am – 5pm

Age UK Charities:

Age UK Gateshead is a leading charity in providing community, support and advice to the over-fifties community in the Gateshead and Newcastle area. Its team works hard to provide the best quality of life for those who they support, and whether you are attending our friendship groups, looking for support through difficult emotional or financial times, or dealing with severe issues such as dementia, they are there to help. Age UK’s services reach thousands of people every week, bringing people together and giving those who cannot speak up for themselves a voice when they need it most.

Age UK Northumberland is a local independent charity that provides services for older adults throughout Northumberland. In common with all Age UKs, their central service is free information, advice and advocacy. Other services are designed to meet local needs and currently include personal care, exercise, fall prevention classes, befriending, lunch clubs and day centres.

EldonShare Your Time by Volunteering with Age UK

We’re teaming up with Age UK Gateshead, North Tyneside and Northumberland from 2 December as part of our #EldonShare campaign. We believe that sharing time with others can have a positive impact on volunteers and clients alike.

There are many ways to get involved and make a difference with your local Age UK charity, from being a Social Group Volunteer to being a Community Ambassador and much more.

Volunteering roles at your local Age UK:

Friendship Volunteer Role

Your local Age UK is looking for friendly and social people with an hour or two to spare each week to make a regular weekly phone call or visit the home of one of clients in order to provide companionship and a listening ear.

Social Group Volunteer

Do you love to meet new people, facilitate activities such as crafts or games, have a laugh and enjoy a cuppa and a biscuit?

Your local Age UK is looking for Social Group Volunteers to help us run our social groups in your community.

Community Ambassador

Your local Age UK want people across the North East to know and access the services that we run to support our over 50’s, therefore, we’re looking for volunteers to learn about the services that we provide and share what we do with your local community.

Excited to learn more and get involved? Visit an #EldonShare event where an Age UK representative will be happy to help or visit.
