Christmas Crafts in Association with Age UK

We’ve teamed up with local charities Age UK Gateshead, North Tyneside and Northumberland from 2 to 18 December 2022 to share our space and provide Christmas craft activities for all of the family.

Immerse yourself in the magic of Christmas by decorating Christmas cards, wooden baubles and your own reindeer food to make sure Santa stops at your house. Shoppers can also share a natter with the Age UK team and hear all about their wonderful volunteering opportunities and how to get involved.

Our community space will be open daily from 11am to 4pm in St Andrew’s Way opposite MONKI. Why not stop by for a day of shopping to participate in one of our craft activities, including colouring in one of our Christmas cards?  All decorated cards can then be posted in our postbox, which will then be donated to clients of Age UK Gateshead, Northumberland and North Tyneside.

EldonShare Your Time by Volunteering with Age UK

We’re teaming up with Age UK Gateshead, North Tyneside and Northumberland from 2 December as part of our #EldonShare campaign. We believe that sharing time with others can have a positive impact on volunteers and clients alike.

There are many ways to get involved and make a difference with your local Age UK charity, from being a Social Group Volunteer to being a Community Ambassador and much more.

Volunteering roles at your local Age UK:

Friendship Volunteer Role

Your local Age UK is looking for friendly and social people with an hour or two to spare each week to make a regular weekly phone call or visit the home of one of clients in order to provide companionship and a listening ear.

Social Group Volunteer

Do you love to meet new people, facilitate activities such as crafts or games, have a laugh and enjoy a cuppa and a biscuit?

Your local Age UK is looking for Social Group Volunteers to help us run our social groups in your community.

Community Ambassador

Your local Age UK want people across the North East to know and access the services that we run to support our over 50’s, therefore, we’re looking for volunteers to learn about the services that we provide and share what we do with your local community.

Excited to learn more and get involved? Visit an #EldonShare event where an Age UK representative will be happy to help or visit.

Fenwick’s Christmas Window 2022

This year’s Fenwick Christmas window display has been revealed and it is… drum roll, please… Clarice Bean: Think Like an Elf!

The famous Fenwick store has teamed up with children’s book author Lauren Child CBE to create this year’s magical twist on the traditional display.

Follow the story of Clarice Bean, who attempts to save her family’s Christmas after the Circus is cancelled. A fitting link between Fenwick’s 140th-anniversary circus theme, which we saw earlier in the year.

The Clarice Bean, Think Like an Elf story is displayed over eight windows and can be seen via Northumberland Street. Each one is adorned with carefully illustrated 3D items with a 2D appearance in keeping with Lauren’s unique signature illustration style and takes viewers on a magical journey.

This year’s theme reveal was viewed by thousands via Fenwick’s YouTube channel and narrated by the author, which you can watch here. However, we highly recommend visiting this year’s display in person for a truly immersive experience.

After a visit to Fenwick’s window, why not enjoy a spot of shopping and discover more from Eldon Square brands? Find out more here.
