NHS 75 Birthday Celebrations
Join us on Wednesday 5 July, as we celebrate 75 years of the incredible NHS in partnership with the North East Ambulance Service and Newcastle Hospital Charity.
We will celebrate the NHS, share our appreciation for the service and say a big thank you for the dedication and support from NHS workers with an event inside Eldon Square.
How you can join in the celebrations
Stop by our blue NHS flower wall on Blackett Bridge, take a selfie, and post your appreciation or share your story using the hashtag #NHS75. Don’t forget to tag @eldonsq and we will repost the best ones!
During the day, the North East Ambulance Service will join us at Blackett Bridge from 10am – 4pm to offer free training on essential life-saving skills such as CPR and assisting someone choking, as knowing what to do in an emergency can mean the difference between life and death.
We will also be joined on the day by much-loved mascots from Newcastle Hospital charity Fudge and Blaze. Don’t forget to give them a wave or grab a selfie in return for donating to the Newcastle Hospital Charity.
Newcastle Hospital Charity
Newcastle Hospital Charity is the official charity for Newcastle Hospitals. It proudly supports staff, patients and the wider community of the hospitals and funds a range of initiatives – from cutting-edge cancer research to innovative medical equipment and ward refurbishments.
We would also like to thank The North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (NEAS), which operates across Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, County Durham, Darlington and Teesside, for its hard work and support.
Don’t forget NHS workers receive a range of discounts from participating retailers and restaurants throughout Eldon Square with a valid NHS badge.
