This December, Newcastle’s city centre will come alive as Enchanted City transforms Northumbria University’s City Campus into a glowing, magical universe of light, art, and imagination.
Set against the backdrop of the city, Enchanted City promises to be one of the season’s most exciting happenings, making it a vibrant new addition to Newcastle’s cultural calendar.
A Night of Cosmic Wonder
From Thursday, 11 to Sunday, 14 December, Newcastle University’s campus will be transformed into a hub of creativity. Expect space-inspired projections, fiery light installations, and performances that blur the lines between science and storytelling.
Visitors can drop into creative workshops with local artists, watch cosmic tales come to life by Unfolded Theatre or simply wander beneath the lights with festive food and drinks. Whether you’re a family exploring, friends seeking a new night out, or anyone who loves to see the city sparkle, this one’s for you.
Bringing Art to the Heart of Newcastle
Enchanted City isn’t just an event, it’s a celebration of creativity and connection, bringing together the talents of regional, national, and international artists.
Delivered by Newcastle City Council in partnership with Northumbria University Newcastle and supported by the North East Combined Authority, the project aims to shine a light on the city’s reputation for innovation, art, and imagination.
Step Into the Story
Open each evening from 4:30 pm to 8 pm, Enchanted City offers visitors a chance to drift through a journey of galaxies near and far, making the universe feel closer than ever. Relaxed sessions will also run from 4:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday for those who prefer a quieter atmosphere.
